Saoirse Mullan

Saoirse grew up in Derry and started acting in a community programme that ran out of a converted church hall. Her performance this year — almost wordless for the first twenty minutes — has become the festival's most-discussed debut. She credits the role to a director who "waited four takes longer than anyone else would have".
